At Transam Extrusions, we manufacture all of our products on our UK sites, meaning we can deliver your products in the quick time that you need. We manufacture a range of flexible cords, primarily for static gasket and sealing applications.
We usually supply in reels, cut to length or O rings, which we join ourselves. We stock some popular sizes in reel form on our online shop in PVC and Silicone.

How tight should an O-ring be?
To provide an effective seal, the O-ring's inside diameter (I.D.) must be smaller than the piston groove diameter, so that the O-ring is slightly stretched, fitting snugly in the groove. This stretch should be between 1%-5% with 2% as the ideal in most applications. A stretch greater than 5% is not recommended.
What is a flexible gasket?
A flexible gasket is a tanged steel reinforced graphite laminate with sheet material of graphite foil layers mechanically bonded to a 0.1 mm (0.004″) thick 316 stainless steel tanged core. This enhances the mechanical strength of the graphite foil.
